Drawn with the sketchbook turned to the right are three views of Castle Campbell made from within the castle grounds. At the top is a view from within the courtyard, looking west towards the tower house at the left and the Hall Range to the right. The sketch beneath was made from the garden terrace beneath the castle to the south. The sketch at the bottom of the page shows a room inside the castle with a vaulted barrel ceiling. However, rather than the Great Hall, as in the sketch on folio 14 verso (D26718; CCLXXII 28), this may be the tower room at the top of the tower house, as it appears to be a smaller room with just a small square window or fireplace at the end wall.
For a full list of Turner’s sketches of Castle Campbell, and more information about his visit, see folio 6 verso (D26688; CCLXXII 12).
