This is a sketch of Schloss Weesenstein, a castle in the Mueglitz Valley located to the south of Dresden. Set among wooded hillside and Italianate formal gardens, Weesenstein was for centuries the countryseat of the Saxon kings. It is depicted again on the following folios: Tate D30901–D30916; Turner Bequest CCCVI 9a–17).
