From a vantage point on the Kapuzinerberg in Salzburg, Turner depicts the view looking across the Salzach towards the fortified Mönchsberg. The tower of St Johannes am Imberg is possibly shown in the foreground at right, and the domed building in the distance at centre may be the Cathedral.
