Neidpath Castle is seen here from Neidpath Road to the north-west. Having approached the castle from Peebles to the east, and sketched it from the east and north (folios 5–7 verso and 8 verso; D26103–D26108, D26110), Turner climbed the bank to the north-west to makes sketches of the building in its landscape setting. Having made this sketch, he returned to the castle to make his final views from the south (folio 9 verso; D26112) and the south-east (folio 10; D26113), before returning to Peebles (folio 8; D26109).
For further information about Turner’s sketches of Neidpath see folio 5 (D26103).
