This was used as the basis for the finished watercolour exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1795 (National Museum Wales, Cardiff).1 There is no connection with the drawing that gave its name to the Marford Mill sketchbook (Tate D00283, D00284; Turner Bequest XX 18a–19), which was misidentified by Finberg and in fact shows quite a different mill.
