There are three sketches here, made with the page turned vertically. At the top is a view of hills beyond the outline of Peveril Castle; this appears to be a laterally compressed view north-west along the valley to Mam Tor. In the middle is a view of the north-east front of the castle keep beyond the curtain wall enclosure. At the bottom is a view north-west across the curtain walls, with St Edmund’s Church in Castleton below to the right, and the peak of Mam Tor above the valley towards the top left. The walls are now partly obscured by trees.
For other views of the castle, Castleton and Peak Cavern, see under folio 1 verso (D22152).
