The sketch drawn parallel with the fore-edge of the page is one of three in this book that may be inscribed ‘Loch Eil’ (see also folios 7 verso and 8 verso; D26975, D26977). If this is indeed a view of Loch Eil then it is most likely to have been made from around Fort William or Corpach. The second sketch, drawn beneath the first with the sketchbook inverted, may also be of Loch Eil, though neither has been firmly identified.
