The subject was drawn with the page turned horizontally. Turner made a view of Llandovery in his Dynevor Castle sketchbook (Tate D01560–D01561; Turner Bequest XL 57a–58), and a large colour study or unfinished watercolour is Tate D02352 (Turner Bequest L K).
