The subject is continued on folio 62 recto opposite (D03030; Turner Bequest LVI 60). It is one of a group of drawings of Kilchurn that Turner used when creating his large watercolour of the subject, exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1802 (377) as Kilchern Castle, with the Criuchan Ben Mountains, Scotland: Noon. See folios 53 recto, 59 verso–60 recto and 60 verso–61 recto (D03012, D03025–D03026, D03027–D03028; Turner Bequest LVI 51, 57a–58, 58a–59).
