This view of Kendal, made across two sketchbook pages (continued on folio 15; Tate D25789) was made from the Helm, a hill in Oxenholme just south-east of the town. From here we look over Kendal with the River Kent running through it. Nether Bridge can be seen near the centre of the present page with the spire of the Parish Church. Kendal Fell rises at the left to the west of the town.
