Inscribed in pencil ‘CCLIX . 122’ at centre, and ‘[?19] | a’ towards bottom right
Stamped in black with Turner Bequest monogram over ‘CCLIX – 122’ bottom right
This is the verso of St-Germain-en-Laye, a Wanderings by the Seine subject (D24687; Turner Bequest CCLIX 122). Turner’s gouache inscriptions on the backs of the series are not recorded in Finberg’s 1909 Inventory.1

Technical notes:
There is some reddish staining at lower right. The marks towards the bottom corners may be brush tests in blue watercolour.
