Not mentioned by Finberg,1 this is a wash-line mount, possibly for a drawing that has been removed. For Ambleside Mill, see folio 66 recto (D01053; Turner Bequest XXXV 51), and for Durham and Hoppner, folio 20 recto (D01018; Turner Bequest XXXV 15).
