A detail of a pinnacle of the church is drawn separately, above the top right of the subject. Turner noted John Landseer’s commission for a watercolour of this subject on the flyleaf (D41250). No finished work is known, and the subject was not engraved. As noted under folio 37 recto (D00444; Turner Bequest XXIV 36), the church of St Lawrence at Godshill is the burial place of the Worsley family of Appuldurcombe.
