Turner depicts Aggstein Castle in five sketches, rendered with the sketchbook turned horizontally, in accordance with the foliation and upside down relative to the foliation. ‘Oxtein’ and ‘Ox’ is inscribed at rear. See also Tate D30274–D30275; Turner Bequest CCC 74–74a.
