Turner’s executors used this page for their endorsements. The top edge of the page has been inscribed in ink with the note ‘No 344 contains 166, Pencil sketches on | both sides’ to establish the volume’s endorsement number, and to indicate the quantity and medium of the drawings it contains. Below this are the ink signature of Charles Turner and the pencil initials of Charles Lock Eastlake and John Prescott Knight. In blue ink, John Ruskin inscribed the right-hand side of the page with the note ‘The leaves are | marked 2. in | my paging for | shortness. Pencil marks at the bottom of the page may depict a cursory landscape view by Turner descending vertically.
