Here Turner has recorded a prospect of the Saxon capital Dresden from the banks of the River Elbe. In the distance at centre is the Augustus Bridge, the Frauenkirche and Hofkirche. Turner has labelled the Frauenkirche and Hofkirche with two illegible inscriptions; there is a separate detail of what appears to be the Frauenkirche’s lantern at top right.
