Made with the page turned horizontally, this drawing is after the painting Landscape with Horseman by Gaspard Dughet (1615–1675), now at Holkham Hall, Norfolk, but Turner evidently used as his model the print of 1741 by François Vivares (1709–1780), which is in reverse.1 See also folios 2 recto and 3 recto (D03654, D03655), and folio 23 recto (D03673; Turner Bequest LXI 21).
