This slight and swiftly rendered sketch shows Cochem looking upstream on the Mosel. The viewpoint is similar to Tate D28543, D28545, D28547; Turner Bequest CCXCI 3a, 5, 6. The ruined Castle Reichsburg is seen in profile atop a mount overlooking the city, while the steeple of Saint Martin’s Church is sketched in summary line at right.
