This watercolour is composed on white paper with preliminary under-drawing in pencil. The image was created by the careful application of watercolour to dry paper. There is little overlap of colours in the painting except for areas where shadow and lighting effects have been created. Pigments used include yellow ochre, vermilion and possibly indigo.
