Taken from the Quai Vert (Groenerei canal), this sketch shows Bruges’ Hôtel de Ville (Stadhuis) and the Palais du Franc (Palace of the Brugse Vrije). The Belfry can be seen in the middle distance at right. Turner has inscribed ‘Ston Hoven | dyk’ at bottom left.
