This page is largely blank but for small intersecting pencil lines at the centre left, that continue the sketched skyline of Boulogne on folio 19 verso opposite (D35427; Turner Bequest CCCLVIII 20).
Technical notes:
Some patches of blue and ochre watercolour have transferred from folio 19 verso (D35427; Turner Bequest CCCLVIII 20).
The Turner Bequest number ‘CCCLVIII 21’ stamped at the bottom right of this recto is cited in Finberg’s 1909 Inventory for the drawing on the verso (D35430; now pseudo-Turner Bequest CCCLVIII 21v), under which this anomaly is discussed.
