There are small, slight sketches of various boats and ships, one of which includes figures. These are similar to layout to the sketches of yachts and ships in Turner’s Windsor and Cowes, Isle of Wight sketchbook (Turner Bequest CCXXVI) of around 1827 (Tate D20596, D20691–D20692; Turner Bequest CCXXVI 1, 59a, 60). There is a sketch of a windmill situated on a shoreline. At the foot of the page is a separate sketch of a ship, drawn with the page turned horizontally.
Technical notes:
There is localised smudging around the drawings and at the periphery of the page, where the pencil lead seems to have migrated and smudged over time.
