Above the centre, the sketchbook’s original schedule number is endorsed by the executors of the Turner Bequest, Charles Turner, Charles Lock Eastlake and John Prescott Knight, in ink ‘No 141 – | C Turner’ and in pencil ‘C.L.E.’ and ‘JP.K.’
Running down from the centre, curator Arthur Magyer Hind has written the following notes in pencil:

This operation was part of the restoration programme of Turner Bequest works at the British Museum after the 1928 Tate flood. The numbering in the first column is that of the pages which had been separated from the sketchbook, listed by Finberg as Turner Bequest XXXV 77–89.
1 The second column indicates where these leaves were placed as addenda following those numbered earlier in the sequence; for example, ‘77 = 19,a’ indicates that Turner Bequest XXXV 77 (Tate
D01079) was inserted after XXXV 19 (folio 25,
D01021).
Finberg’s published numbering of the individual pages has been retained. For a full concordance, see the sketchbook’s Introduction. Further notes in Hind’s hand towards the bottom of the page appear to have been erased; compare folio 2 recto (
D01093; Turner Bequest XXXV a1), and see also folio 93 recto (
D01092).
