It is not clear whether the spire, perhaps of Christ Church, Birmingham (demolished in 1899), and the nearly dome of St Philip’s Church (later Birmingham Cathedral) on the skyline were drawn from the same viewpoint as the foreground, where small buildings and a crane are shown, perhaps by the Birmingham and Worcester Canal.
