This is a somewhat more detailed drawing of part of Beaumaris than the very slight and interrupted sketch on the preceding leaf, folio 2 recto (D01913). Turner has included at the right of his view a quick outline indication of the rocky coast of the North Welsh mainland, stretching away towards Penmaenmawr. The rather perfunctory records in this book are the only evidence we have for his visit; but he was to include a distant view of Beaumaris in his series of watercolour designs for the Picturesque Views in England and Wales (Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens, San Marino, California),1 which was engraved in 1836 (Tate impressions: T04604, T05099, T06119).
