This is a very slight sketch, apparently part of the drawing on folio 1 recto opposite (D03277). The fragmentary inscription is not part of the Executors’ endorsement noted below, and seems to be in Turner’s hand, but is indecipherable.
Across the top of the page is the endorsement of the Executors of the Turner Bequest, Henry Scott Trimmer, Charles Turner, Charles Lock Eastlake and John Prescott Knight, in ink ‘No. 234. Contains | 31 Leaves.. Pencil & Colod. Sketches – | H. S. Trimmer | C Turner’ and in pencil ‘C.L.E.’ and ‘JPK’.
