The buildings shown are presumably in the vicinity of Ysgyryd Fawr; see the other side of this sheet (D40039), and Tate D00143–D00145 (Turner Bequest XII N–P). They may also relate to the architectural background of the Don Quixote drawings (see Tate D00189; Turner Bequest XVII N).
Technical notes:
There are adventitious smears of blue colour affecting the composition. The drawing is currently mounted as the verso.
