Technical notes:
This is the verso of the upper layer of Turner’s original mount for a watercolour of Llangollen, still attached to the recto (D00861; Turner Bequest XXXII E). As explained in the technical notes for recto, two further layers of paper with similar amateur drawings, which had formed further layers of the mount, were separated from this one in 1987.
