The group was formed by Eduardo Costa, Roberto Jacoby and Raúl Escari and was inspired by the theorist Oscar Masotta’s declaration that ‘the medium is the message’.
One of the works undertaken was to use different types of mass media to publicize and create documentation of a happening that had never, in fact, taken place. Known as Happening for a Dead Boar, or The Happening that did not exist, this work, according to Jacoby in his essay Against the Happening, set out to question issues around truth and invention in the media. The work is now seen as a crucial aspect of conceptual art.
