Liverpool’s Apprentice Programme
Aged 16–24? Want a career in the Arts?
Liverpool’s Apprentice Programme helps young people get into creative and cultural industries
Liverpool’s major arts organisations, including Tate Liverpool, are looking for ten enthusiastic young people from Merseyside to become the first Creative Apprentices in the region. The Apprenticeships are for anyone aged 16–24 who has a passion and enthusiasm for the arts and would like to gain invaluable work experience, career counselling and transferable skills. Beginning September 2008 the successful applicants will receive paid, on-the-job training as well as walking away with a formal qualification at the end of the 12-month programme (a Level 2 NVQ in Community Arts Management).
This exciting opportunity is part of the national Creative Apprenticeships scheme devised by Creative & Cultural Skills and will pave the way for thousands of young people to access previously out-of-reach careers within the creative and cultural industries.
The unique national training scheme launched on 13 May 2008 between 18:00–20:00 with an open evening at Tate Liverpool. Other events will be held in Liverpool at World Museum, 18 May 14:00–16:00 and FACT 29 May 13:00–16:00. Drop in to find out more or visit www.creativeapprenticeshipsliverpool.org.uk for more information.
The development of this ambitious programme was initiated by Tate Liverpool and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, an independent grant-making body.
N.B. This is an entry level programme designed to help those with an NVQ Level 2 or less get into the creative and cultural sector and so the programme is not open to graduates or anyone with qualifications higher than an NVQ Level .
