London 2012 has commissioned twelve leading contemporary artists to create the official posters for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Screen prints and lithographs of these works will be displayed at Tate Britain as part of the London 2012 Festival.Since 1912 each Olympic host city has commissioned one or more posters to celebrate the hosting of the Games and, since the first Paralympic Games was held at Stoke Mandeville, posters have also been commissioned for the Paralympic Games. Over the course of the last century a body of iconic work has been created. The commissioned artists are Fiona Banner, Michael Craig-Martin, Martin Creed, Tracey Emin, Anthea Hamilton, Howard Hodgkin, Gary Hume, Sarah Morris, Chris Ofili, Bridget Riley, Bob and Roberta Smith and Rachel Whiteread.
