Gallery education and the digital future features two panels of diverse contributors who will examine how the cultural sector, in particular gallery education, currently uses digital technology. Speakers also explore what the future holds in terms of digital development, what can be learnt from the cultural, corporate and higher education sectors, and how galleries can implement new technologies and platforms within education and learning programmes. There will be plenty of opportunity for discussion, debate and questions from seminar delegates. The seminar will be of interest to individuals working in the visual arts and galleries, in the fields of education, learning and participation.
This seminar aims to
- Explore the use of digital technologies and platforms within gallery education
- Investigate the use of digital technologies in other cultural sectors for education, learning and participation programmes
- Establish what is missing in terms of how gallery education uses digital technologies and platforms
- Consider research and practice that could support gallery education to use digital technologies and platforms in the future.

During the day there will be tours of the new Taylor Digital Studio at Tate Britain with Luca Damiani, Digital Studio Coordinator, and presentations on Tate’s education and digital work with Fran Laws, Assistant Curator, BP Art Exchange and Marina Castledine, National Manager: Circuit, Young People's Programme.
