Tate St Ives
Since its opening in 1993, Tate St Ives has played a leading role in the cultural life and economic regeneration of Cornwall.
We now need to focus on how we can contribute to the transformation of lives and livelihoods through a deeper, more personal engagement with the individuals and groups who visit us. Our vision is to be an international centre for art and exchange at the heart of creative Cornwall and the south west.

Exhibitions and displays
Tate St Ives presents three seasons of exhibitions a year drawing on the Tate Collection and ensuring that people living in Cornwall and South-West are able to access and enjoy the best in international, contemporary and modern art.
Artist Residency
The current residency programme offers visual artists, in the early stage of their career, the opportunity to develop their work in the historic Porthmeor Studio space used by Ben Nicholson and Borlase Smart.
Community and Family Learning Programmes
- Super Sundays
A monthly programme of fun, creative activities built around the current exhibition programme and supported by the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales. - Tea and Tate
A series of free events for the over 60s featuring a lively discussion in the gallery followed by a social event in the café. - Young Tate
At Tate St Ives we are working with a group of local young people who meet regularly to explore the exhibitions and gallery practice with artists and members of the Learning team. - Schools and Teachers
The Teachers programme aims to complement and extend classroom practice, joining up gallery and school-based learning, working in partnership with teachers to develop subject knowledge about, and approaches to, historic, modern and contemporary art.
Tate St Ives Phase Two
Our work in St Ives and Cornwall is central to our vision. The potential of the gallery, however, and the impact we might have, is severely constrained by our facilities which are used by more than three times the anticipated visitor numbers. Tate St Ives Phase Two will deliver facilities designed to enable us to realise the potential of the gallery, using Tate's resources, expertise, and connections, to become an innovative model of what can be achieved by a national gallery in a rural region.
