The Royal College of Art: Curating Contemporary Art
The two-year Masters course ‘Curating Contemporary Art’ was set up in 1992 and quickly established a reputation as one of the world's foremost curatorial programmes. Co-funded by Arts Council England and the Royal College of Art, it is the first postgraduate programme in Britain to specialise in curatorial practice as it relates to contemporary art. Tate collaborates with the Royal College of Art on this course primarily by co-organising a two-term project involving the development by first year students of hypothetical collection displays for Tate Modern. The project is run by Frances Morris and Ann Coxon at Tate Modern, and also involves input from conservators and curators in Tate Collection, the Interpretation & Education teams at Tate Modern and Tate Britain, and the Press Office. It introduces students to many of the different tasks involved in working in a large collection-based art institution. For further details, please see www.rca.ac.uk.
