Library and Archive Reading Rooms, SCONUL Access Registration

The Tate Library support the SCONUL Access scheme. The Reading Rooms offer access to Band A (for academic staff and research students) SCONUL Access card holders. Other SCONUL Access card holders (Bands B & C) can still use the Reading Rooms but must register as a Library Reader or Archive Reader for reference only access, please see the registration pages.

SCONUL Access enables you to access the Main Reading Room (Library collection) and allows you to borrow from the Library collection*. If you wish to access the Library's Special Collections, Archive or Gallery Records material you must register as an Archive Reader, please see the registration pages.

The registration procedure and requirements for SCONUL Access (Band A) are set out below:

Membership is for one year and is renewable on presentation of a valid SCONUL Access card and institutional ID. You will be contacted towards the end of your membership.

* The Tate Library will allow you to borrow up to 2 standard items. If items are too fragile, old, or rare to be borrowed the loan may be refused. All loans are at the discretion of Reading Room staff.
