BT: Bringing Innovation & Technology Together

Tate offers a range of services to visitors conducting their own research:

Research Centre

The Hyman Kreitman Research Centre is the facility where researchers are able to consult the Tate Library and Archive Collections.

      Library Collection

The Tate Library broadly covers those areas in which Tate collects: British art from the Renaissance to the present day and international modern art. The emphasis is on fine art in the Western tradition and international contemporary art.
      Archive Collection

The Tate Archive was established in 1969 based on personal papers already donated and the increasingly rich records of the Tate's own activities.

      Library Catalogue

Searchable on-line catalogue of records for books (including artists' books), exhibition catalogues, permanent and private collection catalogues, audio visual material (including that held in the Archive) and current journals.

      Archive Catalogue

Searchable on-line catalogue of records for Tate Archive which covers British Art since 1900 (artists' and institutional archives, posters and microform) and the Tate Public Records (Tate's own historic records).

The facility was designed by John Miller and Partners. The design converted the former picture stores at Tate Britain into the Hyman Kreitman Research Centre, which integrates the Library and Archive Collections storage with a main Reading Room and an Archive and Special Collections Room.

Print Rooms

The Prints and Drawings Rooms provide an ideal space where works on paper can be viewed in favourable conditions. It is a comfortable environment for study and research, although we encourage anyone with an interest in works on paper to come and use the rooms to enjoy looking at the collection.

Reproductions

For framed or unframed reproduction prints of Tate works for reference, study or display, and for commercial picture users wishing to reproduce a Tate work in any format
