This annual commission invites an artist to make a work of art especially for Tate Modern's Turbine Hall. The Series has resulted in some of the most innovative and significant sculptures of recent years.

Tate is delighted to announce that Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster is the next artist invited to create the Unilever Series commission for the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern.

Rather than fill the Turbine Hall with a conventional sculpture or installation, Doris Salcedo created Shibboleth, a subterranean chasm that stretches the length of the space.

Carsten Höller is interested in the state of simultaneous delight and anxiety that people enter as they ride down his colossal installation, Test Site, a series of slides from the exhibition and display levels of Tate Modern to the Turbine Hall floor.

In the Turbine Hall, 1993 Turner Prize winner Rachel Whiteread created a gigantic labyrinth-like structure entitled EMBANKMENT, comprising 14,000 casts of the inside of different boxes, stacked together and piled high to occupy this awe-inspiring space.

Continuing Bruce Nauman’s fascination with the inherent ambiguity of language, this piece consists of twenty-two audio recordings taken from works which span almost forty years of his extraordinary career.

Louise Bourgeois' installation consists of three steel towers, entitled I Do, I Undo and I Redo. Visitors can climb staircases to platforms on the towers, which become stages for intimate and revelatory encounters between strangers and friends alike.
