David Smith is arguably the most important American sculptor of the twentieth century, and his work opened up the possibility of a revolutionary sculptural technique of projecting the dynamic power and movement of modern life. Eric Shanes takes us through Smith’s life and artistic development and then conducts an informal tour of the exhibition.

Shanes is a painter, art historian and lecturer.
