Per Kirkeby's work resistes easy categorisation. The work often mixes high art and popular culture with natural scenery. Taking inspiration in pop art, comics and fairy tales Kirkeby balances strong roots in the artistic and cultural traditions of his native Denmark with an astute awareness of international developments. Exhibition curator Achim Borchardt-Hume (Chief Curator, Whitechapel Gallery) explores these themes and presents an overview of the exhibition in this talk in the galleries.
