Yet more enthusiastic people get the chance to work learn and work at Tate, this time Alana Jelinek takes the group and gives them a firm and thorough grounding in, amongst other things, the basics of critical theory and workshop techniques.

Pick’n’Mix
5 April 2003
An action packed drop in day, for a real taste of Tate. Making our presence felt, Raw Canvas hosted a day of taster events, discussion, video, drawing courses and curators talks all made up a mixed bag of sweet treats. The day culminates in a talk with fabulous artist Sutapa Biswas and Curator Ann Coxon.

Beckmann Live
May 2003
In collaboration with Southbank Sinfonia.
A three month project culminating in a musical performance in the Max Beckmann exhibition, complete with dinner jackets and finger symbols, Raw Canvas take over the gallery for the evening, along with over 100 guests. An Interactive CD is produced.

Ghetto Superstar?
Ghetto Superstar? The case continues…Alana leads another group on an investigative enquiry into artists of non-European decent and Tate Modern. Guest speakers include artists Sonia Boyce and Roshini Kempadoo and Curator Shaheen Morali.

Rebrand redux
Raw Canvas likes to reflect those that make it, the team decide to have another go at portraying themselves, and pick up a few pointers on how the marketing machine works. But still can't shake that green!

Every Picture Tells a Story...
Working with the Cruel and Tender Exhibition participants use the photos as a starting point for their own films, stylishly and stealthy, they film their way around Tate Modern.

The team curate an exhibition of the projects that have taken place over the past three years, The new brand is unveiled and young people visiting the gallery are given a place to voice their opinions. At last!!

Polke Printmaking
November 2003
Inspired by the Sigmar Polke exhibition and excited by the fun we had at SALAD, Raw Canvas decided on a full weekend of screen printing with Cloth of Gold. Two days packed with seeing the exhibition and using Polkes work as inspiration for our own screen prints.
