The vernacular forms of Minimalism and their legacy have
figured prominently as platforms for critique in the work of renowned artists
Haim Steinbach and Liam Gillick. Both
artists’ practices have expanded into multiple modes of thinking,
looking, and making, but each has continued to critically reposition and
manipulate aspects of Minimalism within the present. On the occasion of
the first full retrospective of Donald
Judd's sculptures, Gillick
and Steinbach will be joined by art historian Mark Godfrey
to consider Judd’s work and to unpack the implications it holds for
contemporary art practices.
