The Wages of Fear (Le Salaire de la Peur)

Sunday 16 January 2005, 15.00

(Le Salaire de la Peur)
Henri-Georges Clouzot, France/Italy 1953, 144’

A spine-chilling tale about four down-and-outs in a sleazy South American town who agree to risk their lives transporting two lorries loaded with nitro-glycerine over treacherous roads to an oil field three hundred miles away. Gritty and full of suspense, Clouzot's masterpiece portrays the increasingly fraught relations between the greedy, disenchanted men.
