Part of bfi & Tate: Another Road

(Alice in den Städten)
Wim Wenders, Germany 1974, 110’

Philip Winter, a disillusioned photo journalist, unwittingly becomes involved in a young girl’s search for her family in the industrial heartland of northern Germany. This hypnotic film forges a distinctly European version of the road movie, suggesting a quest for lost childhood and identity, while exploring the effect of American popular culture on the German subconscious.

The bfi & Tate: Kings of the Road film series is programmed to reflect themes in the  Robert Frank: Storylines exhibition.
