Anna Sanders Films

Friday 4 August – Sunday 13 August 2006

In conjunction with Pierre Huyghe's exhibition, Tate Modern presents films from Anna Sanders Films, a production company based in Paris, founded in 1997 by Huyghe with Charles de Meaux, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster and Philippe Parreno.

The season includes the UK premiere of de Meaux’s new film shot in Marfa, Texas. Anna Sanders Films has blazed a trail at the forefront of the current convergence of visual art and cinema, oscillating between document and fiction, between reality and memory, and between time and its image.

These films present themselves as footnotes on the margins of reality and of film history. Combining stunning, often sensual, imagery with a constant questioning of the cinema, the films of Anna Sanders retain a cool distance from their subjects, creating a space for the viewer to become immersed in the beauty of images and their meaning.
