Programme duration 85 min

Peter Fischli and David Weiss assume the characters Rat and Bear in these two picaresque films about unlikely travelling companions. Mining both art and artlessness, The Least Resistance (1981) and The Right Way (1983) are key moments in the early work of the artists, from which many of the themes that recur in their practice begin to unfold. The artists, disguised as animals, parody both the art world – specifically 1980s Los Angeles – and the wilderness.
