Pink Narcissus 1971 BFI Stills, Posters and Designs |
James Bidgood's influential Pink Narcissus (1971) seamlessly interweaves stunning visuals, high camp, low comedy and no small helping of homoeroticism to make what is perhaps the first truly post-Stonewall film. Produced under conditions of terrible constraint with almost no budget, the film is nonetheless a triumph of inventive filmmaking, as lavish and gorgeous as the Hollywood musicals of the 30s that inspired it.
Presented by Jonathan Katz, Director, Visual Studies Doctoral Program, University at Buffalo.
