Concrete Emotions depicts feelings of alienation and longing, both in East Germany and West Berlin where the violent history of the divided country is inscribed in sooty ruins and post-war architecture. Domestic spaces are scrutinised while subjective views turn into political statements. The fragmentation of fictional narratives, stylised performances and documentary techniques reflect an experience of uneasiness that is turned into dynamic artistic expression. The programme includes films by Einar Schleef, Cornelia Schleime, Brigitte Bühler & Dieter Hormel, Cynthia Beatt, Helge Leiberg, AR Penck & Wolfgang Opitz.
