Arrival at Tate Liverpool
Accessible car parking spaces
Limited pay and display parking is available inside the Albert Dock Gates near The Pumphouse public house (100m distance) or outside the Britannia Pavilion (100m distance).
There is a substantial number of charged for blue badge parking bays on the ground floor of the adjacent Echo Arena multi-storey car park (300m distance).

Entrance to Tate Liverpool
Tate Liverpool is located in the Albert Dock complex, which includes period features such as cobbles and original York stone paving.
There are no steep gradients on approaches to Tate Liverpool. There is level access to the gallery. The main revolving doors are operated manually. The two side doors open automatically and are push pad operated. The doors are single width. The door opening is 110cm wide.
Wheelchair provision
Five wheelchairs are available to borrow during your gallery visit. You can book one in advance or ask a member of staff for one on your arrival. To book a wheelchair, email visiting.liverpool@tate.org.uk or call 0151 702 7400.
Visitors may also like to make use of Liverpool's Shopmobility service, on the third floor of the Liverpool ONE shopping centre. Equipment must be booked in advance and there is a charge. For more information see the Liverpool ONE website or call 0151 707 0877.

Information Desk and Foyer
The Information Desk is 3m from the front entrance. There is level access to the Information Desk from the entrance. Lighting levels are bright. Seating is available in the Foyer.
Tate Liverpool staff are trained in all aspects of visitor care and are here to help during your visit. They can offer information on artworks, the building and the facilities. Please ask for their assistance.
Adapted toilets
There are adapted toilets at Tate Liverpool for the use of all visitors. They are not for the sole use of disabled people.
There is an adapted toilet on the ground floor, 10.5m from the accessible entrance. Other adapted toilets are located in the basement next to the lift and between the rooms at the north end of the gallery on the first and second floors.
All adapted toilets are unisex. A key is not required. The door to the ground floor adapted toilet opens inwards and is locked by a locking handle. As you face the toilet pan there is lateral transfer space on the left. The lateral transfer space is 1m.
The tap type is lever. There is a functional emergency alarm available. There is a coat hook. The coat hook is within 120cm from floor level. Wall mounted grab rails are on both sides of the toilet.
The height of the toilet seat above floor level is 45cm. There is a hand dryer which is not placed higher than 130cm. There is a toilet roll holder which is not placed higher than 100cm. There is a sink which is not placed higher than 74cm.
The contrast between the walls and floor is good. Wall mounted and drop down rails are available.
Standard toilets
Standard toilets are available. The female toilets are located next to the lift in the basement. They are 15m from the entrance. The male toilets are also located in the basement next to the lift. They are 16m from the entrance. There is level access to both toilets and the lighting levels are bright.
Baby care rooms and baby change facilities
There are two baby care rooms at Tate Liverpool, with a full range of facilities. Baby change facilities are located within the adapted toilet on the ground floor in the Foyer and in the basement next to the ladies standard toilet.
Levels and lifts
Levels B-G-1-2-4 are accessible to the general public. There are 15 plus steps between floors. The steps are clearly marked. The lighting level is bright. There are handrails on both sides. There is a landing on each floor.
There are two lifts for public use. They are located opposite the main entrance. They are standard lifts. The right hand passenger lift provides access to all levels. The left hand passenger lift provides access to levels G-1-2-4.
The lifts are 12m from the entrance. The dimensions of the lifts are 1.24m x 1.23m. There is a mirror in each lift to aid reversing out. The lifts have a visual floor indicator, Braille markings and an audible announcer. The external call buttons are at a low level. The lighting level in the lifts is bright.
Cloakroom
There is a cloakroom in the basement at Tate Liverpool. You may be requested to leave briefcases, bags, sticks or umbrellas in the cloakroom. Large bags and rucksacks must be placed in the cloakroom. Buggies can also be stored here, subject to space availability.
Seating
Stools are available in the galleries. Just ask a member of staff or at the Information Desks if you would like to use them.
Tate Liverpool Café
There is level access to the Café. Assisted service is available. There is ample room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre. No tables or chairs are permanently fixed. The distance between the floor and the lowest dining table is 70cm. Menus are clearly written and presented in contrasting colours. They are hand held and available in large print. The type of food served is hot and cold meals, and snacks.
Tate Liverpool Shop
There is level access to the Shop. There is ample room for a wheelchair user to manoeuvre.
Event spaces
There are three event spaces for functions on the fourth floor. This area has separate lift and toilet access. Event spaces are also available on the ground floor.

Concessionary tickets and carers' entry
Admission to Tate Liverpool is free, but there is a charge for special exhibitions. There is a concessionary rate for visitors with a disability, and carers’ entrance is free. Please see individual special exhibitions for details.
Special exhibitions
Touch tours of an exhibition are available with prior booking. Seating is available within the galleries. Portable folding stools are available on request. Accessible multimedia tours are available for summer top floor exhibitions.
Resources: Braille, Large Print, Audio
Tate Liverpool provides a range of interpretative material including information panels, labels and leaflets. All leaflets are available in Braille, large print and audio (personal stereos are available on request). Just ask at the Information Desk.
We can also provide various colours of transparent overlays, which may benefit some customers with dyslexia when reading black-on-white text.
Foreign leaflet guides are also available in French, Spanish, Italian, German and Japanese.

Large-print captions are available in all the special exhibitions and collection displays.

Hearing loops
A hearing loop is available in the Foyer, Group Reception Room and Auditorium. A small portable loop system is available for use in other event spaces. A Crystal mini loop is also available on request.
