Exhibition Talk: Sir Stanley Spencer
A Family Portrait: Shirin and Unity Spencer in conversation with Adrian Glew
Sir Stanley Spencer is considered one of the most extraordinary British artists of the twentieth century and is much admired for his intimate portraits of loved ones and powerful depictions of Biblical scenes in new and intriguing contexts. This one-off event involving Spencer’s daughters Shirin and Unity in conversation with Adrian Glew (Tate Britain Archive Curator who selected the edited Stanley Spencer: Letters and Writings, Tate: 2001), will consider the life and work of Spencer in the unique context of the Wolfson Room gallery space at Tate Liverpool, which currently boasts an extensive display of the work of Spencer as part of the new collection display DLA Piper Series: The Twentieth Century: How it Looked & How it Felt.
