"Since the course, I have worked differently…. Without barriers… I feel very much more enthusiastic about working with my service users…  More assuredly"

This unique accredited course is designed to give quality training and development to staff in the caring and social services professions. Opening Doors introduces participants to modern and contemporary art and empowers them to work in new ways with groups and individuals. Participants are given the confidence to be creative through practical exercises.

Sessions are comprised of group discussions, lectures from care and health professionals, workshops in the galleries, assisted research and individual tutorials with the course tutors. The course is accredited at 3 credits at Level 3 through the Open College Network North West. Accreditation is completed through three assignments, one of which is to facilitate a group visit with clients or service users.

There are no formal entry requirements or experience required to attend Opening Doors, but an interest in art is desirable.

Participants must attend all 8 full day sessions:

October 13: Ways of Looking
October 21: Arts and Health
November 4: Diversity & Identity
